My imaginary porcelain flowers have printed patterns made with leaves that I collect during my botanical expeditions in Colombia’s endangered páramos and forests. Many of the animals and plants that I paint with watercolour glazes are invented, as I imagine them travelling from these ecosystems to mine. My material itself, clay, comes from the Earth’s crust. As I hand-build and glaze my work, and as I adapt to the cracks and drips caused by the firing process, I contemplate the fragility of these ecosystems, their resilience in the face of constant abuse, and the generosity of their shapes, colours and textures.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI try to celebrate the strength of women, whose stories so often go untold.
