ARTIST STATEMENT

Transforming from soft to hard, impermanent to everlasting, clay is a remarkable material that has been intertwined with humans since the beginning of civilizations. In respect to the material and her own footprint, the clay used for this series is recycled from projects made in 2020. An ethereal essence is captured in each handbuilt ceramic mirror frame, which take inspiration from natural elements. Fluid undulating surfaces and delicate petal-like edges are highlighted with soft gradient colours that emulate florals fluttering in the breeze and shimmering pools of water.  With the consequences of climate change on the mind, this series aims to capture a moment of nature's fragile beauty and asks the user to reflect on their own responsibility to preserve our precious planet.
