ARTIST STATEMENT

Eden’s sculptures at first glance appear quiet and placid, but upon closer inspection, her narratives and titles reveal a deeper darker side. She explores materials utilizing her knowledge and skills from various sources. Figures appear in most of her work focusing on human relationships, resiliency, her search for purpose, and maintaining balance.

About EDEN BENDER

From clay to story, Eden Bender sculpts lives into form. Raised among farms and junkyards, her early fascination with objects and their histories became a lifelong artistic language. Her expressive figures are informed by human resilience and empathy - echoes of those she met through charitable work. With international exhibitions and numerous accolades, Bender's work is deeply personal yetwidely resonant, honouring not only the material but the profound narratives it can hold.

Eden earned her Fine Arts degree from York University. Her accolades include the Lindsay Morris Memorial Award from Allied Artists of America and the People’s Choice Award in The Brain Project. Her work has been featured invarious publications, such as Beautiful Home Studio Pyramid, Objekt International, 500 Figures in Clay (Lark Books), and The Black and White of Eden Bender (Fusion Magazine).

Her art has been exhibited internationally at the International Juried Biennale in London, England; the International Ceramic Exhibition in Warsaw, Poland; and the Master Class in St. Petersburg, Russia.
