Constructed in Clay: Form and Structure
Our exhibit at Art Toronto explores the dynamic relationship between clay and architecture through sculptural ceramic works. Constructed in Clay: Form and Structure gathers artists located internationally who use ceramics as a formal and conceptual language, examining how architectural ideas like form, structure, enclosure, and repetition can be translated and reinterpreted in clay.
Far from a passive material, clay becomes an agent of inquiry. It invites touch, holds history, and transforms under pressure and fire. Through hand-built processes, modular repetition, and volumetric construction, these works echo architectural elements including facades, ruins, frameworks, and thresholds - while remaining deeply personal and materially grounded.
