Match Striker Box
The box introduces its own duality, becoming the threshold between exterior and interior.
The exterior, being highly visible and on display, can be a bold statement or influenced by
cultural expectations. The interior is hidden and mysterious, secretly affirming or subverting the façade. But as a match striker, the interior becomes a point of ignition, a place of action. My exploration of identity and the necessity of uncertainty lies in this tension between surface and depth, active and passive, known and unknown. This box lives in that grey area, accepting the power of ambiguity as a form of resilience and radical presence.

Artist Statement
My work focuses on the space between perceived dualities. As an artist, I interrogate identity, belonging, and the defiance towards categorization. The forms I create offer this resistance by referencing both architectural and organic lines, blurring the boundaries between natural landscapes and urban environments. The work is deliberately disorienting, yet also familiar. Soft lines are blended with more industrial shapes to challenge assumptions of scale, place, and purpose.
