Julie’s surface design often pays homage to the Patter and Decoration movement of the 70’s and 80’s, while embracing the inclusive spirit of the 1960’s and 70’s counterculture movement. Simultaneously, Julie’s admiration for the bold and clear aesthetics of modernism and post-modernism, is also very apparent.
The artist’s dedication to process and materials motivates her creative practice. She is inspired by tradition and innovation, challenging expectations of what clay objects can be.

ARTIST STATEMENT
I tend to think of my process in two parts where forms are a built canvas for surface design. Decoration is a way for me to expand on and individuate work, allowing me to explore multiple ideas about a single object. At other times, I play with sculptural lines on a surface. By blending coils of clay onto the outside of traditional vessel forms, a three-dimensional line becomes a shallow wall and starts to blur the separation between decoration and the body of a pot. This method of building onto forms, allows me to alter their silhouettes and the space they occupy, not just through the volume contained within them.

All Vessels + Sticks orders are packaged by the artists themselves and shipped directly to you, the collector. This process allows us to reduce overall shipping costs as well as our carbon footprint.
Local or international charges vary depending on the location of the artist and the collector. Please note that multiple shipping charges will apply if you order works from more than one artist.
All ceramic artworks are ready to ship. Please allow 1 to 3 days for an order to be processed and the artwork to be prepared for shipping. If an artist is away, longer shipping times will apply and adjusted timing will be indicated on the artwork page.
Shipping Rates
Shipping rates are calculated based on the size and weight of the package, domestic or international carrier service requirements and origination and destination address. An estimate will be provided upon checkout. Some artworks may require additional packing, handling or special shipping arrangements. If this is the case, you will be directed to a member of our team to receive a shipping estimate and to coordinate details.
Taxes and Duties
