To hold a moment if only for a second
In my most recent work, I explore this object-subject relationships, paying particular attention to the home. Through works that combine clay as a primary medium and memory as a process, I transform intangible feelings into tangible objects, reflecting on the affective quality of the objects that surround us and inform our imaginaries of what that space means. Objects leave behind their practical functions to become carriers of human experiences, forming emotional and material archives that reflect the personal narratives that constitute who we are.

Artist Statement
My practice is informed by themes such as memory, identity and loss. The latter, in particular, fascinates me—not as an absence but as a container of knowledge. I find clay, a material that oscillates between permanence and impermanence, the ideal material to explore these themes. I approach clay as I approach language: as a malleable, editable system of signifiers, shaped and reshaped over time. Writing is an essential part of my process, and I use universal symbols—like the chain, the heart, and the pillow—to communicate. While these symbols have prescribed meanings, it is through our lived experiences that their significance evolves.
About the Artist
Camila Capra (San José, Costa Rica, 1992) is a multidisciplinary designer and artist based in the Netherlands. Her work explores the multidimensionality of the human condition, drawing from literature, history, and everyday life.
Working primarily with clay through material and embodied research, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons The New School of Design in New York and a Masters of Arts in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, graduating Cum Laude with the Best Thesis Award.
In 2018, she founded Krudo Studio, initially focused on utilitarian ceramics. Her practice has since shifted towards an exploration of clay as an affective, ephemeral material capable of shaping personal and collective narratives. Combining objects, installations, and documents, her work has been exhibited in the Netherlands, Mexico, and most recently at DeCerca Gallery in San José, Costa Rica.
