About JANE YANG-D’HAENE

D-HAENE STUDIO is a ceramic and design studio based in Brooklyn, New York developed by Jane D’HAENE. From the hands of Jane D’HAENE the wet clay gets sculpted into vessels, shapes and forms. Jane’s works are one-of-a-kind, hand-built vessels, functional wares and sculptural objects. Either wheel-thrown or hand-built, each piece is carefully and patiently crafted and her works are known as an unconventional play of clay combining traditional and contemporary methods. Jane was born in South Korea and moved to NYC. After attending Cooper Union for the school of Architecture, Jane worked as an interior designer for 12 years at a major architectural firm. With the birth of her daughter, Anais, she then created a successful children’s clothing brand, Anais & I, which she ran for 8 years. Jane started ceramic in 2016 as a hobby. As with her previous artistic endeavors, Jane passionately pursued and self-taught the technique and knowledge of ceramic arts. Inspired by her background, her work is a playful balance between art and design. She is currently working on furniture, lighting, tableware, and many varieties of vessels. She truly believes all can be made in clay.
