Hand built earthenware jug multi-layered with glaze, underglaze and slips. Images are drawn using Sgraffito (a scratching technique that reveals layers of underglaze beneath the surface glaze).

For this series, Jacqueline has taken her inspiration from the largest and most successful ReWilding conservation project in the UK at the Knepp Estate in Sussex. The estate has patiently allowed nature to reshape the 3,500 acre landscape which has repaired ecosystems and brought back species that were on the edge of extinction.

Five of her pieces in this series are illustrated with some of the flora and fauna that are thriving at Knepp from the Nightingales to the Purple Emperor butterflies.

Dimensions: 11"H x 6.5"D (at widest point)

About The Artist

ARTIST STATEMENT

It has always been important to me that viewers of my ceramics are left knowing without a doubt that my work is very definitely made from clay and I wish to demonstrate an overall rawness and immediacy.  In short, I like the clay to show itself.

Technically I work as an earthenware ceramist firing to temperatures no higher than 1080 degrees and I most commonly use red terracotta.  The surfaces of my work are created by multi-layering and then drawing (by ‘Sgraffito’). I then fire each piece at least three times.  I create layers of colours and illustrations using slips, underglazes, glazes and finally lustres.  All my work is hand built and every piece I make is original.

Shipping & Insurance

 Shipping + Insurance

All Vessels + Sticks orders are packaged by the artists themselves and shipped directly to you, the collector. This process allows us to reduce overall shipping costs as well as our carbon footprint.

Local or international charges vary depending on the location of the artist and the collector.  Please note that multiple shipping charges will apply if you order works from more than one artist.

All ceramic artworks are ready to ship. Please allow 1 to 3 days for an order to be processed and the artwork to be prepared for shipping.  If an artist is away, longer shipping times will apply and adjusted timing will be indicated on the artwork page.

Shipping Rates

Shipping rates are calculated based on the size and weight of the package, domestic or international carrier service requirements and origination and destination address. An estimate will be provided upon checkout.  Some artworks may require additional packing, handling or special shipping arrangements. If this is the case, you will be directed to a member of our team to receive a shipping estimate and to coordinate details.

Taxes and Duties

International orders may be subject to import duties and taxes incurred when the delivery reaches your destination. The charges of import duties and taxes must be paid by the recipient of the order.  Unfortunately, we have no control over these charges and we have no way of knowing what the charges will be in advance. Please contact your local customs office for further information before placing your order.
